Here's what's on the menu …

Chef's Challenge with Chef James Yott Boyle
We love James!

Chef James Yott Boyle, that is, from The Duck & Dumpling. Show how much you love him too by voting for him with a donation to Meals on Wheels of Wake County as part of the Chef’s Challenge fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 9.

He’s up against Chef Chris Hylton from The Mint and Chef Elise Johnson from NBC-17’s “Cooking with Elise” for the Chef’s Challenge and live auction to raise money for Meals on Wheels, which serves 1,500 seniors and disabled residents in Wake County every week day.

Here’s the deal: The chef who raises the most in donations wins the People’s Choice Award. Vote for James online at www.wakemow.org.

Or see him showing off his culinary skills at the event, which begins at 6 p.m. at Garner TV & Appliance in North Raleigh. Each chef will prepare a special meal for the Challenge that will be auctioned off live as a dinner for four guests to enjoy with the chef who prepared it. The meal will be served right after the competition.

The judges are Jeff Hadley, director of the culinary program at Wake Tech, and Ed Brantley and Heba Salama, the 2008 winners of TV’s “The Biggest Losers.” Mark Roberts will provide commentary for the Challenge.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Buy them at www.wakemow.org or at The Duck & Dumpling.

For more information, contact The Duck at 222 S. Blount St. in Raleigh or at (919) 838-0085. And don’t forget to vote for James!
